CCTV systems are now ubiquitous in almost every aspect of our lives. Whether this is a good thing or not is a separate matter, but if you are in charge of a CCTV system in any manner, you should make sure it is as good as it possibly can be. We frequently see CCTV systems that are clearly the result of a box-ticking exercise, with no thought or effort put into their design and implementation. This is a dreadful sight to behold, and it should not be tolerated. Why have CCTV that doesn’t work? You wouldn’t construct a lighting system that leaves regions in the dark or create rooms without doors, so why have CCTV that doesn’t work?
